bodybuilder (he won the Mr. USA bodybuilder championship at age 61), Beale

Pax Beale does have a family
history of heart disease. "My father died of a heart attack at age 61,
and despite all my years in athletics, I developed a cardiac condition
which required five-way multiple bypass surgery in 1991. While my chest
pains subsided after the surgery, I never was able to come back to full
functionality. I had what is called ischemic (or dead) heart tissue. The
only thing I could do is keep taking the medication my doctors gave me,
and resign myself to the fact that my hard core athletic days were probably
over.
But I had read that pyruvate
supplementation could reverse ischemic tissue, which in lay terms, is tissue
lacking blood supply. So an even more important objective I had in using
pyruvate was to see if it would work on my heart.
At the time I started taking
pyruvate, it was more than four years after my surgery and my heart was
functioning at only 20 percent of its maximum. But after about a year of
pyruvate supplementation, I went back to my cardiologist and he couldn’t
believe it! In fact, he gave me extra tests to make sure his diagnosis
was accurate. I didn’t have ischemic tissue anymore! In fact, my heart
was functioning completely normally at rest, and in exercise tests it was
performing so well I was almost off the chart for my age bracket.
So I threw away my heart
medication, and I haven’t used it since. Now when somebody asks me, ‘What
do you think about pyruvate?’ you’d better believe I’ve got a story to
tell them!"
